Why is ‘The Breakfast Club’ ENDING? Host Angela Yee announces radio show is ‘officially over’

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘The Breakfast Club’, one of the most iconic hip-hop radio shows in New York City, is coming to an end. The show’s co-host Angela Yee broke the Internet after she announced the big news via Twitter. The award-winning radio show was the flagship station of Power 105.1 and aired in over 90 radio markets around the US, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Miami.
 
‘The Breakfast Club’ is hosted by Charlamagne tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy who on social media enjoy a massive fan following. The renowned hip-hop show kickstarted in 2010 and gave us many iconic moments, from Soulja Boy’s interviews to Kodak Black wearing a ski mask for his interview in 2018. The show also made headlines for an open discussion on whether rapper 6ix9ine should be invited back on the show or not following his arrest for federal racketeering and firearms charges. Social media users rushed to the micro-blogging site to find out the reason behind the show coming to an end.

Why is ‘The Breakfast Club’ coming to end?

Taking to Twitter, Angela Yee, the co-host of ‘The Breakfast Club’ wrote, “The breakfast club as you know it is officially over.” This soon led to chaos on social media. A few minutes prior to the big blow, Angela had tweeted, “GOD is good!” seemingly referring to her co-host Charlamagne tha God. The other two co-hosts — Charlamagne and DJ Envy — are ye to weigh in on the matter. MEAWW will keep you posted.
 
The socials of ‘The Breakfast Club’ also have not posted anything official on the situation. Speaking on why the popular radio show is coming to an end, Angela did not spill the beans on it. There have been a few rumors of co-hosts not liking each other but nothing ever substantial came out. Also, Charlamagne tha God is busy hosting his new series ‘Hell Of A Week With Charlamagne tha God’ and him putting his focus somewhere else could be the reason behind the show’s ending. ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, featured all three hosts speaking with rapper Royce da 5’9” and Courtney Bell.
 
In January 2020, the show was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding News/Information (Series or Special), whereas, in July 2020, ‘The Breakfast Club’ was nominated for induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.

‘The three hosts hated each other’

Social media users flocked to Twitter as soon as Angela Yee made the big announcement. “Charlamagne carried The Breakfast Club for 10+ years,” claimed one user as another posted, “It’s a damn shame. Too much great moments in there, but the 3 hosts hated each other.”

One user tweeted, “Yee!! Congratulations but what’s going on?! When can we get the details?” Echoing similar sentiments, another asked, “What went down to cause that to happen. Fill us in.”
 
One user stated, “They’re mad at the plight Charlamagne has taken i bet! He’s doing God’s work and anybody doing that will be muzzled and silenced. Not to say Angela & DJ Envy aren’t but the antagonist @cthagod has completely evolved as a man and you know how they say “it’s not a good look.”

One fan stated, “The breakfast club def had some cultural historic moments. gotta love those moments.” One person asked, “Charlemagne sticking around right?”

One concluded, “There are sooooo many amazing YOUNG Black voices that can replace the breakfast club in terms of moving forward. I really hope the powers that be do the right thing here.”
